HELINA Talk

HELINA is an acronym, which stands for “Health Informatics in Africa”. It is the Pan African Health Informatics Association and the African regional body of the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA). Since its establishment in 1993, the primary purpose of HELINA is to promote education and research in health informatics in Africa and the implementation of ethical, modern, and evidence-based health informatics to enhance access to quality healthcare in Africa, part of this achieved through the HELINA Education working group (EWG). HELINA’s Vision is: Transforming healthcare in Africa through health informatics research, development, implementation, and education. For more information on HELINA please follow this link

At HELINA, we find it prudent to engage various stakeholders in the health informatics fraternity as a way to pick their minds on various topical discussions within the eHealth domain. To achieve this, we set up the HELINA Talk forum https://forums.helinanet.org/, where people can propose topics, engage in discussion, and also share topics with other interested parties who would love to join the discourse and have their say.

Now you could be wondering, how one joins this platform! I have to tell you it is pretty easy, well, let’s dive right into it. Ideally, a user will self-register on the site using the ordinary username/login password, but you will not log in until an Admin approves your account. Once the admin confirms your account, an automatic welcome email will be sent to you with a message after which you will be able to log in and start contributing to the HELINA Talk forum. Alternatively, simply log in using your social media account i.e. Google, Facebook, or Microsoft.

Registering with HELINA Talk is highly recommended because it is one way to connect and engage in constructive deliberation with domain experts in health informatics in Africa and beyond and more so picking your invaluable insights as we build a robust Health Informatics community on the continent.
